Pillar brands such as Paul’s, OAK, Ice Break, Tamar Valley Dairy, Vaalia, Kraft, President and Galbani provide Lactalis Australia with a deep national footprint for growth and prosperity.Our OpportunityReporting to the Research & Development (R&D) Manager of Milk, Beverage, & Foods Service, this role will be based in Lidcombe and will be responsible for assisting with bench and pilot plant trials, and technical analysis as required across all categories.Main responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:Conduct bench trials, weigh up of ingredients and batching for pilot plant trials. Assist the Packaging teams to assess transport trials.Assist in the running and operation of the R & D pilot plant for all products and processes.Ensure that the Pilot plant rooms Hygiene and Housekeeping are maintained to a high standard and the Pilot plant is regular cleaned. To ensure that the Food safety and HACCP plan have been established for the Pilot plant with the assistance of the NQA team and maintained.To prepare and maintain a full maintenance and calibration schedule for the pilot plant.Assist the R & D team through the development of new analytical methods, targeting to develop the expertise through deeper product characterization.Conduct a range of investigative analysis across categories as required as part of the central R & D laboratory. To develop and conduct adhoc technical analysis for R & D projects e.g. composition, texture, particles size, volatile analysis and to train other team members in their operation as required.To be involved regularly in the sensory evaluation of products and to maintain and update product information and assist categories with Market research with R & D.To assist the R &D management team with the effective management of the building 22 and R&D admin related activities e.g. Cleaning, safety, Purchase requisitions, Travel, etc. and follow expenditure related to the R & D Team such as expenses, building expenses.To order and stock take of ingredients for bench and pilot plant trials.To be the successful applicant for the R&D Technician role you should have a Tertiary qualification in Food Technology.
