Our opportunity
Join our South Brisbane office as a Financial Accountant Manager (12-month parental leave cover), reporting to the Financial Controller. In this role, you'll lead a team of three financial accountants, ensure compliance with accounting standards, manage month-end processes, and oversee the statutory audit. You'll handle intercompany reconciliations, hedge accounting entries, and foreign exchange revaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial accounting and provide guidance on Corporate and statutory reporting and governance requirements.
- Preparation of Statutory Financial Statements for the group, including sustainability and other supporting disclosures in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards Consolidation and compilation of company accounts for regular reporting, forecasting and control.
- Management and oversight of annual audit process
- Timely preparation and compilation of the monthly Head Office reporting packages.
- Timely completion of month-end journals, and responsibly of management of SAP close process including liaising with management control for closing and reopening the period.
- Manage the Balance sheet reconciliations and maintain adherence to the organisation's policies and procedures.
- End-to-end management and oversight of intercompany transactions including liaising between IT, A/R & AP.
- Management and oversight of treasury accounting including hedge accounting entries, foreign exchange revaluation including the development and maintenance of supporting accounting models.
- Keeping abreast of technical accounting changes including proactive consideration of impacts on the business.
- Co-ordinate and participate in the continuous improvement of Internal Controls to meet both local effective control requirements, plus the requirements Head Office.
- Provide final sign off on vendor, distributor and overseas payment runs as and when required
- Ensure activities comply with legal, professional and ethical standards.
- Champions continuous improvement initiatives, supporting ad-hoc projects aimed at enhancing financial and operational performance.
- Complete all tasks and duties as reasonably requested by your leader.
ABOUT YOU:
A successful candidate for this role is someone who can demonstrate a balance of positive, value-adding behavior and outstanding results, consistently meeting commitments to all stakeholders. This position is ideal for an applicant with:
- Qualified accountant (CA/CPA) with 7+ years post qualification experience, preferably in a fast paced industry
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- A sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and their application
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- You are an ambitious, dedicated individual who is energetic, proactive and accountable. Your ability to build relationships, solve problems and achieve results will only add to your success
- You have strong background in accounting and financial management, ideally obtained from a background in Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm
- You pride yourself on your attention to detail and exceptional technical skills
Desirable:
- Experience with SAP and/or Hyperion ERP
- Understanding of current IFRS and preparation of statutory accounts
- Past exposure to cross functional finance projects, integrated accounting systems and continuous improvement initiatives will be highly regarded
