Parmalat has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter to join their Rockhampton (central QLD) team. Reporting and providing support to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in the timely delivery of products to schedule and specification through ensuring processing, packaging and blow moulding activities run smoothly. This will involve conducting preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance, project work and installations in a professional manner, thus adding value in a multi-skilled production environment.Please note this role is required for rotating shift work plus some overtime, including day and afternoon shifts, and weekends.More specifically, your duties will include (but not limited to): Implementing the Preventative/Routine Maintenance programs to achieve machine and line efficiency;Conducting welding tasks using GTAW (TIG Welding) , GMAW ( MIG Welding ) and SMAW (Stick welding) processesWorking under minimum supervisionParticipating in the safety risk reduction programParticipating in any technical , operational or safety training as required.A willingness to learn and share informationEquipment monitoringSupervision of external contractorsPerforming scheduled safety checks as per instructions;Ensuring all tasks are performed safely, including completion of Relevant permits.Investigating failures and making recommendations to reduce risk and improve systems / processes; Assisting in the induction and training of new staff and an apprentice; and Logging all work in the maintenance system and ensuring relevant documentation is complete and accurate.To be considered for this position, you will require a relevant Australian trade qualification, and ideally previous experience in the food, dairy, packaging or manufacturing / process-related industries. Due to the nature of the role, applicants should also have knowledge and skills in: trouble shooting of equipment and processesroot cause analysiscommunication skillsPneumatics, hydraulics & schematics;Welding processesFitting & turning experience andHigh speed packaging lines and associated equipment including valves, Ink jet coders, pumps etc.Knowledge of GMP within the food industry will be an advantage.The successful candidate will have an analytical and methodical approach to problem solving as well as excellent communication skills across all operational levels.
